Places in Uganda

Uganda is located in East Africa and although safari tourism is relatively undeveloped, there are a handful of superior Gorilla safari lodges in the some of the most splendid locations in Uganda. The lush jungles provide the perfect habitat for Mountain Gorillas. Nature here is raw, verdant, fertile and teeming with birds and primates. The Queen Elizabeth National Park is shadowed by the magnificent Rwenzori Mountain range, home to open savannahs, rain forests, crater lakes and papyrus swamps. Uganda is three hours ahead of GMT. The best time to visit Uganda is late December to late February, and from June to September, as the weather at this time of year is generally dry, and warm. Temperatures average at around 25 degrees Celsius. The most appealing destination in Uganda is Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - home to Mountain Gorillas. A boat trip on a remote stretch of The Nile below Murchison Falls is another highlight as you float past monstrous Crocodiles, plenty of Hippos and Elephants and some of the most unusual and rarest birds in Africa such as the Shoebill Stork.
